Helen C. Nickles

Helen C. Nickles, age 83, of Whitmire, SC, passed away, Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Prisma Health Greenville Memorial Hospital.
She was born March 31, 1941 in Whitmire, SC, and was a daughter of the late Earl and Anna Rhodes Ellison. She was a faithful member of the First Church of God, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and was lovingly known as the "Mother of the Church." She received a degree in cosmetology and worked at Willamette to provide for her family. Helen raised her family as a caring and loving mother, while living for the Lord. She loved her dogs, Judo and Dolly, and her cats.
She is survived by her son, Shannon Nickles (Amy); her daughters, Carla Knotts (Kevin) and Lisa Oxner (Ricky); her grandchildren, Danielle Shields (Matt), Jessica Nelson (Larry), Hailley Story (Caleb), Alisha Taylor-Knotts (Justin), Brittany Mangum (Jessie), Taylor Mills, Katelyn Pipkin (Grady), Allison Hall (Nick), Jacob Nickles (Kate), Zach Alexander, Tristan Brown, and Mya Nickles; her fifteen great-grandchildren; her two great-great grandchildren; her brother, Raymond C. "Bo" Ellison (Pat); and her sisters, Elaine Ellison (Randy) and Edith Nelson (Tony).
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Joyce Mull.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM, on Wednesday, July 24, 2024 at the First Church of God with Rev. Timothy Vanlue and Rev. Todd Johnson officiating. Burial will follow at the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Tuesday, July 23, 2024 at the church.
The family will be at the home of her daughter, Carla Knotts, 107 Slayton Street, Whitmire, SC 29178.
