Ada Holmes Davis Bayon was born September 18, 1907 in the Octagon House in Laurens, SC. She said she had lived from the horse and buggy days to seeing man walk on the moon. She lived her life with grace, gentleness, compassion for and generosity to those around her. She died November 26, 2006 in Columbia.
Her early years were spent in Clinton and Paris, France where her beloved husband, Dr. John H. Bayon, was a Director of the American Hospital. She later lived in Columbia, SC and retired to Clinton, SC.
Surviving are one sister, Catherine D. McIver; sisters-in-law, Henrietta Young Davis and Wiley Harris Davis; nieces and nephews, Jack H. Davis, III, Elizabeth McKinney, Susan Davis, Jane Adair, Wiley Forte, Trecie Ritchie, Mary Belle Smith, Washington Davis, Jr., Lee Mercer, Thomas Davis, Ada Holmes McIver, Laura Bayon, Lucille Hume and Susanne Bayon DeNeufville; great-nieces and great-nephews; in-laws and many friends.
She was predeceased by three brothers, Jack H. Davis, Jr., Lawrence Fuller Davis and Washington Watts Davis, Sr.; a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Milling Davis Copeland and a nephew, Joseph Davis.
Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 29th at 1:00 p.m. in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Clinton.
The family will receive friends Wednesday at Gray Funeral Home from 12 noon to 1:00 p.m.
