Alacia Rhame passed away in Macon, Georgia, on Monday, June 20, 2022 at the age of 82. Alacia was born on March 31, 1940, in Quitman, Georgia, as the first child of Lawton Glenn Lee and Grace Paulk Lee. She was preceded in death by her father and mother.
She is survived by her husband of 60 years, Dr. Donald Wallace Rhame, originally of Clinton, South Carolina, along with their son, Todd Anderson Rhame (and his family), their daughter, Lauren Lee Rhame (and her family), and their “son” Anton Mertens (and his family). She also leaves behind her sister, Lauren Lee Browder (and her family), of Gulf Breeze, Florida, as well as a host of friends.
Alacia was a graduate of Queens College, Charlotte, North Carolina, where she was a member of Phi Mu sorority. She was a member of the Town and Country Garden Club, the Masqueraders, and the Junior League. She worked as a Realtor, antique merchant, and taught at a cooking school. She was a food editor for the Macon Magazine and was a former member of the Colonial Dames of America. Her interests included sewing, tennis, hiking, playing the piano, and singing in her church choir.
She will be remembered for her love of animals—dearest to her were her dogs. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to your favorite charity.
Her funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM Thursday, June 23, 2022 at Snow’s Memorial Chapel, Bass Road. Visitation will follow. Rev. John Kinser will officiate. Burial will be in the family plot at 2:00 PM Friday, June 24th at the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton, South Carolina.
