A. Lawrence McMurtury, Sr., age 69 of 1802 Old Newberry Hwy, died Saturday, April 26, 2008 in the Wallace Thomson Hospital in Union.
He was born in Whitmire, SC and was a son of the late Estelle Chapman McMurtury and raised by the late Orlando and Lola Baker Chapman.
Mr. McMurtury was a farmer and retired truck driver, a member and deacon of Central Ave. Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, Willie J. McMurtury of the home, two sons, Alvin L. McMurtury, Jr. and Mark McMurtury; one daughter, Donna McMurtury Norton all of Whitmire; three brothers, Dan McMurtury of Whitmire, Charles McMurtury of, Caro, GA, Tony McMurtury of Newberry; two sisters, Margie Perry of Newberry and Kathleen Perry of Silverstreet; seven grandchildren and one deceased grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Central Ave. Baptist Church with burial in the Mt. Tabor Methodist Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the church.
