Albert H. “Shorty” Turner, Sr. age 90 and formerly of 5257 Torrington Rd., the widower of Ella Crain Turner died Saturday, April 10, 2010 in the National HealthCare of Laurens.
He was born in Greenville County and was a son of the late Mack Franklin and Irias Wood Turner.
Mr. Turner was retired from Clinton Mills, was a member of the Bellview Baptist Church. Mr. Turner was an avid sports enthusiast and enjoyed playing many sports during his life.
Surviving are one son, Albert H. Turner, Jr. of Laurens; three daughters, Sandra T. Walker of Laurens, Irias T. Spoon and husband, Milton of Ora, Mel T. Howle and husband, Philip of Darlington; two brothers, Frank and Charles Turner both of Chester, PA; two sisters, Mabel Ledford of Greenville and Ila Crenshaw of FL.; seven grandchildren, Tammy Abbott, Melody Kellett, Elizabeth Weatherford, Clint Howle, Patrick, Niles and Catherine Turner and eight great grandchildren, Maggie Abbott, Robyn, R. M. and Rebekah Kellett, Ethan and Mellanea-Cate Weatherford and Sydney and Alexis Howle.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church by Rev. Barry James. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Sandra Walker, 468 Rocky Springs Church Rd, Laurens, SC.
