Dateline – Laurens
Alice Garibay Ward, 88, of Laurens, SC, passed away Sunday, January 11, 2015, at White Oak Manor in Newberry. Mrs. Ward was raised in Pasadena, California. In 1948, she married Harold Clinton Ward of Talullah Falls, Georgia. She was an employee of Eckerd/Rite Aid for many years in Laurens, and was member of First United Methodist Church. Ms. Ward loved her family and she loved the Lord. She was of strong Christian faith and was a true and faithful prayer warrior.
Mrs. Ward is survived by her three children, Peggy W. Wilson (Len) of Newberry, Linda W. Busby of Laurens, and Tony C. Ward and wife Cathy of Mauldin. She is survived by two grandchildren, Gregory L. Wilson and wife Lauren of Wenatchee, WA, and Bo Busby of Boston, MA, and one great-grandchild, Logan Gregory Wilson, of Wenatchee, WA. Mrs. Ward is also survived by four sisters, Julie Vejar Munoz Prouty of San Ysidro, CA, Ruth Vejar Ahlroth, Rachel Vejar Ryan and Mimi Vejar Joyner of Laytonville, CA, and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death was her loving husband of 47 years, Harold C. Ward.
The funeral service is planned for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, January 14th, in the Chapel of Gray Funeral Home in Laurens, SC. The family will begin receiving friends at 10:00 AM.
Interment will be at Forest Lawn Cemetery, Laurens.
