Allen Edmisten, “Big Al”, went to be with Jesus on May 8th, 2017. What a spectacular day for him! We celebrate his victory, but mourn for his beautiful spirit. Allen is an adamant Christ-follower, who shared the gospel everywhere he went. He touched and continues to touch numerous lives with the joy and hope of Jesus Christ. Allen is a devoted husband, a faithful father, a loving brother and son, and a grandfather full of adventure. Known to his nine grandchildren as “PAL” (Papa Al), he is full of silliness and always ready to offer a word of encouragement or a “punny” joke. Coaching soccer, working with high school young men, singing to the Lord every Sunday, and crabbing with his family at Edisto Island, are all things that Allen did in his pursuit of the call on his life. His work with offenders and ex-offenders is wide-spread. His love for redemption and restoration make him a man among men. This brother man ran his race and finished well!
Part of the legacy left behind by such an incredible man include: his wife, Lisa; his son, Hunter, and wife, Elizabeth; his son, Jacob, and wife, Kelsey; his daughter, Carissa, and husband, Christopher; his son, Noble, and fiancé, Mitra; his daughter, Kenzie; his father, Joe and stepmother, Patricia; his sister, Sharon; his sister, Sarah, and husband, Sean; his half-sister, Brooke, and step brother, Damian; his nine beautiful grandchildren, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, sister and brother-in-laws, and friends, who loved him dearly.
We would like to invite you to celebrate the big life of Allen Edmisten, in the word and the music that he loves, at First Baptist Church in Clinton, South Carolina, on Thursday, May 11th, at 4:00 pm! Following the service in the sanctuary, the family will laugh and share stories with friends in the Family Life Center. To honor his life, the family asks that any memorials be sent to Chaplain Russ Painter at Tyger River Correctional Facility to further the work that Allen devoted his life to. The address is 200 Prison Road, Enoree, SC 29335.
