Alva Sanford McAlister the son of Leitha Donet Theo McAlister and F.G. McAlister passed away at Providence Hospital on Sunday, March 19th 2017 at the age of 87. He was the last survivor of his family and was predeceased by his loving wife of 62 years, Lila Casey McAlister. He spent his career working in textiles with the JP Stevens Co. He served in the Army during the Korean War era and was a faithful member of Wayside Baptist Church in Laurens, SC.
He is survived by a daughter Angie McAlister Dillon and husband, Emory, a daughter Lisa McAlister Thompson and husband, Greg; grandson, Stephen Emory Dillon and wife, Sally; granddaughter, Donet Dillon Morf and husband, Joseph. He is also blessed to be survived by great granddaughter, Lila Sophia Morf; great grandson Dillon Maximus Morf; great grandson Luke Isaac Dillon and many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by four sisters; Ethelyn Gossett, Cecil Mae Kirby, Grady Lee Cole, and Inez Wood.
The family will receive friends from 6:00p.m. until 8:00p.m. on Wednesday, March 22nd at Gray Funeral Home in Laurens, SC. A memorial service will be held at Wayside Baptist Church in Laurens, SC on Thursday, March 23rd at 2:30pm followed by the burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery.
