Alvin Eugene Cox, age 83, and widower of Betty Thelma Brotherton Cox, passed away Wednesday, March 21, 2018 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.
He was born in Whitmire and was the son of the late Joseph Franklin and Mary Elizabeth King Cox. Mr. Cox served twenty-nine years in the South Carolina National Guard. He also retired from Cone Mills in Carlisle, SC.
Mr. Cox is survived by a son, Randy Cox (Rose) of Greenville; a daughter, Lisa Cox of Clinton; and a sister Patricia Brotherton of Clinton; four grandchildren, Susan Cox, Adam Cox (Stephanie), Mary Cox and Kathleen Sun; and his beloved felines, Rosebud and Buggar.
The family will conduct a private family service at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Alzheimer’s Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd #L Anderson, SC 29621, or to Davidson Street Baptist Church Building Fund, 400 Davidson St, Clinton, SC 29325.
