Amy Kanning Caldwell, age 93, formerly of 110 Wood St. and widow of Homer Estel Caldwell died Monday, March 31, 2008 at the White Oak Manor in Newberry.
She was born in Hickory Tavern and was the daughter of the late Ralph Lee Kanning, Sr. and Lillar Tumblin Kanning.
Mrs. Caldwell was retired from J.P. Stevens Co. and was a member and former Sunday School teacher at the First Baptist Church where she was active in numerous church activities. She was also a member of the Young at Heart Club and the Whitmire Ladies Club.
She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Mike Stevens of Union; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Zeke and Ann Caldwell of Whitmire and Floyd Caldwell of Irmo; brothers and sisters, Ina Mattison of Honea Path, Ralph Kanning of North Olmsted, Ohio, Robert Kanning of Saluda and Martha Allen of Gaffney; 5 grandchildren, Arnie Caldwell of Irmo, Ali Perry of Naples, FL, Ashley Thomas of Lexington, Andi Moore of Prosperity and Erin Zellmer of Atlanta, GA and 2 great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a son, Homer Estel Caldwell, Jr. and a brother and a sister, Carson Kanning and Laura Mattison.
Funeral services will be conducted Friday at 2:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church followed by a private committal service at Rabon Creek Baptist Church in Hickory Tavern.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
