Angela (Angie) Dawn Burns Byers, beloved wife and best friend of Kenneth Dale Byers, both of Panama City Beach, Florida, went to her Heavenly home on Monday, April 13, 2009.
Angie had been a patient at the NeuroIntensive Care Unit of the University of Florida’s Shands Teaching Hospital in Gainesville, Florida since April 2nd, 2009, having suffered a brain aneurysm while at home the night before. She fought a valiant battle but was not able to overcome the damage from the aneurysm and resulting strokes.
Angie was a native of Laurens, S.C., having been born December 12, 1970 to Larry Burns and Earlean Simmons Caldwell, both deceased. Surviving are her husband, Dale Byers, of the home; son, Christopher Calvert, of Laurens, SC; two daughters, Brittney Calvert and Casey Calvert, both of Laurens, SC; a step-daughter, Brittney Byers, of Laurens, SC; two sisters, Cheryl (John) Abercrombie of Lauren, SC and Sharon (Rusty) Smeal of Fountain Inn, SC; a beloved dog, “Chase” who was Angie’s baby; other family members, and a host of friends who will greatly miss Angie’s personality, smile, laughter, and spunkiness.
Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 16th. 2009 at the Gray Funeral Home in Laurens, SC. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, April 17th, 2009 in the Westview Memorial Park in Laurens, SC by Rev. Marc Coker and Rev. Jot Abercrombie.
In lieu of flowers, the family would be greatly appreciative of memorials given to help defray extensive medical and funeral expenses. Memorials may be made to: Julie Alexander or Dale Byers, c/o Sun Trust Bank, 201 West Main Street, Laurens, SC 29360.
