Annie Belle Privette, 90, widow of Van Privette, died at her home of 60 years, on March 10, 2007. She was born April 24, 1916 in Whitmire and lived her entire life within 2 blocks of her birthplace.
Annie Belle was the third child born to James T. Nelson and Frances Jennings Nelson. She was preceded in death by her sister, Toye Nelson Cousins and her brother, James T. Nelson Jr. Surviving are sisters, Beulah Johnson and Evelyn Reed of Greenville, also Helen Amick of West Columbia.
Surviving Annie Belle are sons, Charles of Simpsonville, James of Whitmire and a daughter, Maxine Bryant of Greenville. There are 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandchild.
Wanting to help her family’s income Annie Belle went to work in the Whitmire mill at a very young age. She retired from the J P Stevens Company at age 68. She spent her life working, as a mom, housewife and many years in the spinning room.
Although, she loved her home, Annie Belle enjoyed traveling. She enjoyed cooking for the family and buying gifts for them. She will surely be missed.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Whitmire with interment in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
