Aquilla V. Gray, age 87, the widow of Charles Gray, of 4466 Greenpond Rd. died Monday, July 17th at the Greenville Memorial Hospital after an 18 month long battle with GAVE disease and congestive heart failure.
She was born in Fountain Inn and was the daughter of the late James Clarence and Mayme Knight Vaughan.
Mrs. Gray was a member of the Beulah Baptist Church, where she was also a member of the Ladies Bible Class.
She is survived by her two daughters, Malea Gray of the home and Grace D. Parson of Fountain Inn; six grandchildren; five great grandchildren and one brother, Charles B. Vaughan of Ft. Wayne, IN.
Mrs. Gray was predeceased by her son, Charles E. DuVall and a brother, Bruce Vaughan.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Beulah Baptist Church in Fountain Inn with interment in the Dials United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home.
The Gray family wishes to express their sincerest thanks and appreciation to Dr. J. Kelly Dixon for his 35 plus years of dedicated and comprehensive care as their sole family physician. Upon his retirement Dr. Sheila O’Grady-Irwin continued the exceptional level of high compassionate, intelligent and loving care that Mrs. Gray had become accustomed to with Dr. Kelly and his partners at Internal Medicine Associates of Greenville.
The family would also like to express their gratitude to Dr. Romagnuolo, at MUSC for his immediate diagnosis and treatment of her GAVE disease.
Mrs. Gray’s final months at home were made more comfortable by the kindness and Christian care of the employees of Interim Hospice. Therefore, in lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to Interim Hospice, 775 Spartanburg Blvd., STE 10, Spartanburg, SC 29301-9957.
The family will be at the residence 4466 Greenpond Rd., Gray Court, SC.
