Belle Courtney Byrd

Belle Courtney Byrd age 86, widow of Robert Downs Byrd, Jr., died Wednesday, Oct. 24th in White Oak Manor in Newberry.
She was born in Lenoir (Adaco), North Carolina and was a daughter of the late Albert Andrew Courtney and Florence McCall Courtney.
Mrs. Byrd was the owner and operator of the Modern Beauty Shop in Whitmire for over 40 years. She was a member of the Whitmire Presbyterian Church.
She is survived by three sons, Robert Downs Byrd, III and wife Frances of Rutherfordton, NC, Richard O’Neal Byrd and wife Wilma of Newberry, SC, and Albert (Al) Courtney Byrd and wife Brenda of Columbia, SC; three grandchildren, Robert Downs Byrd, IV, Richard O’Neal Byrd, Jr., and Courtney Anne Byrd; a great-granddaughter; and numerous step grandchildren and step great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Oct. 27th at 11:00 a.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Whitmire with interment in the Newberry Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday, Oct. 26th from
6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Whitmire.
