Bessie Ruth Stamey Cox

Bessie Ruth Stamey Cox age 73, of 1861 Hwy. 66, died Wednesday, Nov. 7th at her home.
She was born in Laurens County and was a daughter of the late Lloyd and Gertrude Kidd Browning.
Mrs. Cox was a homemaker and the owner of Stamey’s Restaurant in Charlotte, N.C.
She is survived by her husband, Alvin E. Cox of the home; a son, Ricky Stamey and wife Melissa of Midland, N.C.; two step-sons, Frankie Stamey and wife, Terrie of Social Circle, GA and Randy Cox and wife, Rose of Greenville; a step daughter, Lisa Cox of Clinton; sisters-in-law, Margie Browning of Union, Louise Browning of Indiana and Patricia Brotherton of Clinton; granddaughters, Elizabeth Stamey and Natasha Stamey; step grandchildren, Kathleen Sun, Susan Cox, Adam Cox, Mary Cox, Richy Stamey, and Michael Stamey; step great-grandchildren, Jessica Stamey, Heather Stamey, and Erin Stamey.
In addition to her mother and father, she was predeceased by her first husband, Ben Stamey, a sister, Mildred Waldrop and brothers, Wallace and Rex Browning.
Mrs. Cox was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, friend and was a devoted Christian lady.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Grace Baptist Church with interment in the Whitmire Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 to 8:00 at the church.
