Betty Baker Green

Betty Baker Green, 84, of Clinton, South Carolina, died peacefully on Wednesday, March 22, 2017. Her Memorial Service will be held at First Presbyterian Church of Clinton, on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 3:00 P.M., with receiving of friends directly following the service at the church.
Mrs. Green was born in Medicine Park, Oklahoma, to Morris and Bessie Mae Baker on February 13, 1933. She graduated from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where she received her degree in nursing. She married Oliver Hammond Green in August of 1955, in Fayetteville, North Carolina. Mrs. Green worked for Laurens County School District 56 as a district nurse for more than 20 years before retiring. She also worked with Laurens County Department of Social Services, volunteered with Senior Action, Good Shepherd Medical Clinic, and many other organizations. She was an active member of Clinton First Presbyterian Church for more than 40 years, serving as Elder, Sunday School Teacher and Church Youth Volunteer. Most importantly she loved The Lord and her family. She enjoyed spending as much time as possible with her children and grandchildren on holidays, birthdays, at the beach, the lake or any other day possible and strived to get every member of her family together just to create memories. She was a fiercely loyal friend and seemed to touch anyone that encountered her. She deeply cared about her job and frequently referred to the children she worked with at the school district as “her kids”.
Mrs. Green is preceded in death by her husband, Oliver H. Green, of Clinton, SC, son Gerald H. Green of Clinton, SC, and grandson, Jared H. Green, of Clinton, SC.
Mrs. Green is survived by Allen Wayne Green and wife, Rita, of Greenville, SC, David Ray Green and wife, Ruth, of Clinton, SC, Patricia Mae Green (wife of Gerald H. Green, deceased), of Clinton, SC, Mary Sharon Stephens and husband, Gary, of Clinton, SC, Mark Oliver Green and wife Fran, of Taylors, SC, brother, Carl Dean Ray, of Savannah, Georgia, brother, Charles B. Baker of Oklahoma, sister Rene Ann Kennedy, of Oklahoma. She had fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Clinton First Presbyterian Church Youth Group or Good Shepherd Medical Clinic. The Family of Betty Green wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of National Healthcare of Clinton, South Carolina for the loving and attentive care she received during her stay.
