Beulah Ellis Orr, age 95, of Clinton, died Tuesday, November 21, 2006 at National Health Care Center. She was born October 7, 1911 in Heath Springs, SC to the late George Dixon and Mary Jane (Mamie) Hammond Ellis.
She was a graduate of Winthrop College, Class of 1932 and taught at Kershaw Elementary School, 1933-1938, where she met her future husband, J. A. Or, Jr. to whom she was married for almost 60 years. In 1948, they moved to Clinton, where she spent the remainder of her life. Throughout her life she was devoted to the Christian nurture and education of children. She taught kindergarten at First Baptist Church, Clinton, from 1960 to 1973 and worked in the Primary Department of the Sunday School for over fifty years.
She always loved music and assisted with the Preschool Choir at her church for over 20 years and was also a member of the Clinton Music Club in which she held several offices.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Roy, George D., and Fred Ellis.
She is survived by her sons, James A. Orr, III and George Darrell Orr of Charlotte and her daughter, Dr. MaryAnn Orr of Matthews, NC as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at the First Baptist Church of Clinton on Sunday, November 26th, at 3:30 p.m. with visitation forty-five minutes prior to the service. Interment will be at Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
