Bobby Joe Simmons

Bobby Joe Simmons, age 81, of 411 Laurens Street, passed away Monday, March 7, 2016 at Providence Hospital in Columbia, SC.
He was born in Joanna and was a son of the late Walter Thomas and Madge Sorrow Simmons.
Mr. Simmons retired from Monsanto with 28 years perfect attendance. He attended the First Baptist Church of Joanna and was a member of the Joanna Men’s Club. He was the founder and past president of the Clinton High School Booster Club, was a US Navy Veteran, and an avid Gamecock Fan.
He is survived by his wife Judy Dunlap Simmons of the home; his son, Tommy Simmons (Ginger) of Clinton; his daughter, Beckie Scott (Nathan) of Clinton; his sisters, Judy Weaver and Annette Adams, of Joanna; five grandchildren, Michael Simmons (Michelle), Ashley Alexander (Derryk), Jonathan Scott (LeighAnn), Scott Simmons (Christy) and Laura Riddle (Paul); and ten great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his sister, Iris Bragg.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 11th at 2 PM at the First Baptist Church of Joanna with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 PM at the funeral home.
