Brenda Chandler Smith

Mrs. Brenda Joyce Chandler Smith, 70, of 614 Whitmire Hwy, Joanna, SC, passed away peacefully at her home on December 28, 2014.

She was born in Joanna, SC, on September 18, 1944, and was the daughter of the late C.W. and Zula Norris Chandler.

Brenda was the last surviving member of her family, being predeceased by two brothers, Charlie Watts Chandler and Joseph Carroll Chandler; and three sisters, Virginia ‘Jenny’ Hazel, Barbara Thomas, and Sara Ann Goodman.

She was a former employee of Greenwood Mills and retired with 20 years of service as a Fabricator at Asten Johnson in Clinton, SC.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Joanna, SC.

Surviving family members are her loving and devoted, husband, Franklin D. Smith of Joanna and cherished son, Dr. Jason A. Smith of Boiling Springs, SC.

Both Visitation and Funeral Services will be conducted by the Gray Funeral Home in Clinton, SC. Visitation Services will be held from 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday December 30th and Funeral Services will be held at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31st.

Pall Bearers will be Estess Campbell, Jared Foster, Ed Thomas, Bill Sickles, Will Sickles, and Donny Sherfield.

The family will receive guests at the home of the decedent’s niece, Cheryl Ann Seawright, located at 201 S. Holland St., Clinton, SC.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Hospice Care of South Carolina, 100 Plaza Dr., Suite A2, Clinton, SC 29325.
