Calvin Edward Franklin age 79 of 411 Browning Avenue, died Friday, January 23, 2009 in the Hospice House in Clinton.
He was born in Franklin County, GA and was the son of the late Robert Calhoun and Beulah Streetman Franklin.
Mr. Franklin was retired from the Bailey Plant and was the supervisor for Hawthorne Services. He was a Korean War Veteran, a former Fire Chief at the Joanna Fire Department, an umpire, and chief with the ASA softball. He umpired YMCA, church and high school games.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia Wilson Franklin of the home; a son, David Franklin of Woodruff; three daughters, Amber Franklin of the home, Marci Franklin of Joanna, and Cindy McCall and husband, Roy of Laurens; a step-daughter, Regina Poole and husband, Keith of Georgia; a step-son, David Mealor and wife, Rita of Georgia; six grandchildren, Jamie Franklin, Jordan McCall, Isaiah Mealor, Breanna Poole, Christie White, and Scott Lawson; brothers and sisters, Robert Lee Franklin and wife, Ernestine of Kinards, Louise Dove of Georgia, Brenda Kitchens and husband, Pete of Kinards, and Linda Motes and husband, Tommy of Kinards; many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a son, Ted Franklin; and sisters, Darlene Franklin Ringer, Bobbie Jean Harris, Mildred Harrelson and Mozelle Atkins.
Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, Jan. 26th at 11:00 a.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel.
The family will receive friends Sunday evening from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Cindy McCall at 146 Bobcat Trail in Laurens.
