Dr. Carl J. Arnold, age 89, of 105 Derby Lane passed away Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at his home.
He was born in Bristol, VA and was the son of the late J. Carl and Martha C. Arnold.
Dr. Arnold attended Elementary and High School education in Bristol and Abington, VA and graduated from Greenbrier Military School in Lewisburg, W. VA in (1946). He later received his Bachelor of Science in 1951, his Masters in 1952 from Virginia Tech, and his Ph. D. from Michigan State University in 1958. He was a faculty member at Virginia Tech, the University of Florida Rollins College, and Presbyterian College. Dr. Arnold was awarded and achieved many honors during his time in academia, he was awarded the Charles A. Dana Professor of Economics and Business Administration from Presbyterian College, the Professor of the Year award from the University of Florida and Presbyterian College, the Distinguished Service Award from Presbyterian College, and College Annual Dedication from Presbyterian College in 1980. He was a member of the Methodist faith and was active in church work and activities in Abingdon, VA, Blacksburg, VA and Winter Park FL, and was a member of the Lions Club in Blacksburg, VA.
Dr. Arnold is survived by his wife, Nancy of the home; his daughter, Sandra Ellen Lambert of Dallas, TX; his grandchildren, Leah Lambert, Erin Lambert, and Matt Lambert; and his four great-grandchildren.
A Memorial service will be held, Saturday, June 9, 2018 at 3:00 PM at Edmunds Hall at Presbyterian College. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.
