Carl Michael Clegg, Sr.

Carl Michael Clegg, Sr., age 70, of Whitmire, SC passed away Friday, September 27, 2019 at Prisma Health Richland.
He was born in Gainesville, FL, the son of the late Rachael Michaeline Langford and Carl McGehee Clegg.
He was a veteran who joined the United States Navy in 1968 and served aboard the USS Saratoga from 1969-1971. He also served in the South Carolina Army National Guard from 1987-2003.
He is survived by his daughters, Kacey Langford Wilbanks (Adam) of Newberry and Dixie Clegg Caulder (Patrick) of Piedmont; his son, Carl Michael Clegg, Jr. of Columbus, GA; his brother, James Jackson Clegg of Huntersville, NC; and his grandchildren, Lorelai Cloninger, Rachel Bower, Maggie Cloninger and Leah Wilbanks.
Carl was an avid sportsman, who looked forward to the start of every hunting season and loved being out in the woods any chance he got. He loved trout fishing and always had a fishing pole within reach. He coached basketball with the Whitmire Recreation Department for many years. He would talk to anyone and was known to have a good story ready to tell. But most importantly, he was a proud grandad who loved his four granddaughters
He will be fondly remembered by all.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Cassada, David Champion, Carl Michael Clegg, Jr, Christopher Keller, Galen Roche, and Christopher Stapleton.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, October 1, 2019 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church Cemetery in Blythewood, SC at 3:00 PM with Jerry Philman officiating.
The family will receive friends Monday, September 30, 2019 at the Gray Funeral Home of Whitmire from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
