Carl Fred Kinard

Carl Fred Kinard, 82, of Cliffside passed away at Spartanburg Medical Center on Friday, October 25, 2024. 

He was born March 16, 1942, in Newberry, SC to the late Fred Kinard and Bernice Bouknight Kinard. Carl attended school at Joanna Elementary through 8th grade. He served in the National Guard for 9 years. In his spare time, Carl loved horseback riding, operating his tractors and helping out his neighbors by bushhogging. He was a great joke teller and could tell a joke instantly to brighten up someone's day. He was a member of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Cleveland County, where he served several terms as Deacon. 

He is survived by his wife, Paula; his children, Wendy McDowell (Donnie), Dan Laskowski, Christine Quinn (Joe), Misty Lyons, Monica Hughes, Curtis Hood (Caroline), Clint Hood, Catura Richardson; his brothers, Jerry Kinard (Dianne) and Mike Kinard (Deb); his sisters Judy Constantin and Sandra Prewitt; thirty-one grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his son, Mitchell Kinard and his late wife, Peggy White Kinard.

A celebration of Carl's life will be held Sunday, November 10, 2024 at 2:30 PM at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 1301 Mt. Pleasant Church Road, Mooresboro, NC. Visitation will begin at 1:30 pm with the service to follow. A Memorial Graveside Service will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2024 at 2:00 PM at Pinelawn Memory Gardens in Clinton, South Carolina.
