Carl Leonard, age 96, of Clinton, widower of Ruth McLeod Leonard, passed away August 2, 2021 at the Presbyterian Community of SC in Clinton.
He was born November 4, 1924 in Greensboro, NC and was a son of the late Wesley M. and Hattie Lee Lambert Leonard. Carl was a Corporal in the 20th Armored Division in World War II and honorably discharged February 4, 1946. He managed Roses for 20 years and was self-employed at Leonard and Marler Insurance Agency for 34 years.
Mr. Leonard was a member of First Baptist Church of Clinton since 1954.
He is survived by his daughter, Belinda Jeffries of Washington, GA; his granddaughters, Tammy E. Ochoa and husband, Luis of Washington, GA, Christy Lawson and husband, Stan of Clinton, Kelly Estes and husband, Michael of Clinton; his great grandchildren, Alexis Holloman, Olivia Estes, Hannah and Noah Lawson and Alexander Ochoa.
In addition to his parents and his wife of 72 years, he was predeceased by his sons, Timothy and Darrel Leonard; and his siblings, Velma, Bea, and Wesley. Mr. Leonard was the last surviving member of his siblings.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, August 5, 2021, 3pm, at the First Baptist Church of Clinton with Rev. Dr. Blake Harwell officiating. Entombment will follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum.
The family will receive friends prior to the service, Thursday afternoon from 1-3 pm at the church.
