Carl R. Rogers, age 80, of 6001 S. Kings Hwy. and a former resident of Clinton, SC died Tuesday, December 27th in the Grand Strand Hospital in Myrtle Beach.
He was born in Fayetteville NC he was a son of the late Grady A. and Leola Owens Rogers.
Mr. Rogers was a former employee of Milliken Company and Plant Manager of Clinton Mills. He was a graduate of Clemson University and a member of IPTAY; a past president of the Clinton Kiwanis Club, past president of the Southern Textile Association, past president of the Clinton YMCA Board, former member of the Planning Commission and member of the Broad St. United Methodist Church, and a Navy veteran of WWII.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Turner Rogers of Myrtle Beach; son Richard A. “Rick” Rogers of Clinton; one step son, Ben J. Christopher, Jr. of Spartanburg; two daughters, Carol R. Shaw of Bluemont, VA, Lou Ann Sink of North Augusta; a step daughter, Tracy Sherwood of Kansas City, MS; one brother, Rev. Edward E. Rogers of Cliffside, NC and seven grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Rosa L. Rogers and second wife, Helein E. Rogers; three brothers, Clifton Rogers, Cortez Rogers and Dennis G. Rogers.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday, Dec. 30th at 11:00 am at Broad St. United Methodist Church where the family will receive friends from 10:00 to 11:00 am in Hodges Hall.
The family will be at the home of his son, Rick Rogers, 2750 Hwy 56 South, Clinton, SC.
