She graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School (Washington D. C.) in 1951, and from Wheaton College (Wheaton, IL) in 1955. She married Lennart Pearson in 1956, and they began their life adventures in Edinburgh, Scotland where she taught home economics while he attended seminary.
