Carolyn Peay Dunaway

Carolyn Peay Dunaway, age 81, of Whitmire, wife of Jimmy Dunaway, passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family, and fur baby, Conan.
She was born October 3, 1939 in Whitmire, SC and was a daughter of the late Marion Peay and the late Fannie Mae Walker Peay. Mrs. Dunaway worked in textiles for most of her life. She was a loving mother to her children and grandchildren, and she was affectionately known around Whitmire as "Mama Carolyn". Mrs. Dunaway was an avid Clemson fan.
She was a member of Pine Ridge Baptist Church.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Gaylan Dunaway (Carolyn), Kevin Dunaway (Reneea Pressley), and Jason Dunaway (Leigh); her daughter, Mona Armstrong; her grandchildren, Jessica Shealy (Corey), Cody Dunaway, Devin Armstrong (Heather), and Noah Armstrong (Keri); great-grandchildren, Justin Spells, Jacob Spells, and Makenzy Shealy; and "little girl", Kinsley Hood; her brother, Tom Peay; and sister, Ellen Wise.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Leonard Peay.
A Memorial Service will be held, Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2 PM at Pine Ridge Baptist Church with Rev. Kenny Weaver, and Rev. Mike Campbell, officiating. The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service from 1-2 PM.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Pine Ridge Baptist Church, 6104 Whitmire Highway, Whitmire, SC 29178, or to Cancer Center of Greenwood, 1325 Spring Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
