Carolyn H. Young, age 89, formerly of 606 Cedar Street and widow of Henry M. Young, Jr., died Wednesday, May 4, 2011 at the Presbyterian Home of SC.
She was born in Newberry and was a daughter of the late John Calhoun and Sarah Eloise Reeder Harman Bookout.
Mrs. Young was a retired school teacher in Clinton; a member of First Presbyterian Church where she was an Elder and former choir member; a member of The Garden Club and the S.C. Teachers Association . She loved taking care of her children and grandchildren.
Surviving are her son, Bob Young and wife, Marcia of Greenwood; her daughter, Carol Young Newton and husband, Harmon of Charlotte, NC, five grandchildren and two great grandchildren.
She was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Harman Hayes.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church on Friday, May 6th at 2:00 pm conducted by Rev. Wain Wesberry.
The family will receive friends following the service in the church.
