Charles B. Tumblin, age 87, a resident of Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center, passed away Monday, December 31st, 2012.
He was born in Laurens and was a son of the late Harley Franklin and Ethel Robertson Tumblin of Laurens
Mr. Tumblin retired from CSX Railroad, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Laurens and was a US Army veteran of WWII.
He is survived by one sister, Grace Tumblin Smith of Greenwood, SC, other survivors include two nieces, Beatrice Bobo of Hodges, SC, and Rachel Murff, of Laurens, SC, and one nephew, Charley Tumblin, of Rome, GA, and a host of great nieces and nephews.
Mr. Tumblin was predeceased by five sisters, Margia Casey, Clara Madden, Estelle Tumblin, Imo Tumblin, Cleo May and one brother, James F. Tumblin. He is also predeceased by two nieces, Lois Simmons and Betty Marlar and one nephew, James Tumblin, Jr.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Jan. 2nd at 3:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Laurens, 300 W. Main St., Laurens, SC 29360.
