Charles Reese Cunningham, age 96, of 659 N. Main St. died Friday, December 28, 2007 at his home.
He was born in Laurens County and was the son of the late William Clifton and Sara Davenport Cunningham.
Mr. Cunningham was a member of the First Baptist Church for over 78 years where he served as Treasurer, choir member and deacon. He was a farmer for many years, drove the school bus until the school was moved to Clinton and was a mechanic at Chandler’s Garage in Clinton until his retirement.
He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Harold E. (Nan) Frick of Cross Hill, Mrs. Rebecca Shubert and son-in-law, Ray L. Shubert of Greenwood and Mrs. Frances M. Gipson and son-in-law, Dave Gipson of Augusta, GA; four grandchildren, Teresa Dianne Shubert of Greenwood, Jim C. Shubert and wife, Alison of Simpsonville; Phyllis Ann Dunaway and husband, Tony of Cross Hill and Steven E. Frick of Cross Hill; six great grandchildren, Jessica Lohr, T.J. Dunaway, Chris Hastings, Grayson Shubert, Jackson R. Shubert and Campbell Shubert and three great great grandchildren and his beloved dog, Jasmine.
He was predeceased by his wife, Alice Tucker Cunningham and two sons, John D. Cunningham and Charles Cunningham.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday at 3:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church with interment in the Liberty Springs Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cross Hill.
