Charles Stanley Rice, Sr., age 74, of 627 Compton Rd. and widower of Sarah Lois Rice died Saturday, August 29, 2009.
He was born in Clinton and was the son of the late Ishmael Buel and Viola Williams Rice.
Mr. Rice was retired from Ball-Incon, a former employee of Senior Options, was a member, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, and Choir member of Bellview Baptist Church. He was a leader of the C.A.R.E ministry, active in the Browns ministry and music and was a U.S. Navy veteran.
He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley Rice, Jr. and wife, Susan of Laurens, David Rice and wife, Angie of Laurens and Darren Rice and wife, Jackie of Clinton; a daughter, Debra Caudill of Union; a brother, Leon Rice of Whitmire; a sister, Brenda Rhoden of Varnville; a special friend, Sandra Walker of Laurens;
9 grandchildren, Colby Rice and wife, Jessica, Caleb Rice, Jennifer Caudill, Kasey Panaras, Krystal Binns and husband, Jeffrey, Destiny Rice, Michael Rice, Drew Rice and Adam Caudill; and 4 great grandchildren.
He was also predeceased by two brothers, Harold and Buel Rice.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday at 5:00 p.m. in the Bellview Baptist Church by Rev. Barry James, with interment in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be the members of the Charles Rice Sunday School Class.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
