Charlie Lester Smith, age 71, of 590 Gastley Drive, passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Laurens and was a son of the late Charlie and Onie Harrison Smith.
Mr. Smith was an active member of Holly Grove Baptist Church and served honorably in US Navy aboard the USS Ajax during the Vietnam Conflict.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith of the home; his son, Charlie L. Smith, II (Tammy) of Clinton; his daughter, Julie Sorenson-Davis (Bryan) of Gray Court; his sisters, Elvira Smith Tiensivu and Ada Meneatrice Smith Beavers; his grandchildren, Keaton Ryan Smith, Chandler Sorenson-Davis, Jackson Keith Davis, Brayden David Smith, Madysen Elizabeth Smith and Khloe Estelle Smith.
He was predeceased by his sisters Maledia Smith Cole and Merron Smith Hentz.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 14, 2016 at 3 PM at Holly Grove Baptist Church, 92 Holly Grove Church Rd, Laurens, SC 29360, with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.

The family will receive friends before the service from 2 to 3 PM at the church.
