Clarence A. Roberts of 311 Leonard Road, went to be with his Lord on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 after an extended illness.
He was the son of the late Harry A. Roberts and Viola G. Roberts and stepmother, Alma F. Roberts.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Vance A. Roberts, James E. Roberts; sisters, Rosie M. Staley, Louise E. Switzer, a grandson, Robert M. Adair and brother-in-law, Luther Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Beulah (Bea) G. Roberts of the home, a son, Roy A. Roberts, daughters and sons-in-law, Vickie and Danny Adair, Terry and Gary Carroll; seven grandchildren, Jason Adair, Amanda Lyttle, Daniel Adair, Ronnie Roberts, Shannen Wirgau, Andrew Carroll and Ryan Carroll; three great-grandchildren, Haley Roberts, Katie Lyttle and Stephen Adair; one sister, Deborah Z. Barnes of TN and one brother, Harry C. Roberts, Jr. of TN.
He was “Mr.CA” to friends and members of Holly Grove Baptist for twelve years. He was born in Arcadia, SC, July 3, 1930 and joined the Navy in 1948 and was honorably discharged in 1985, after touring the world. He received four good conduct awards, National Defense Service Award and retired as a Master Chief Petty Officer. He settled in Clinton in 1985 and worked with George Motor Company of Laurens until 1997.
He was a beloved son, husband, father, uncle, grandfather, brother and friend and always an inspiration and a source of knowledge to all who knew him. He was a beacon of strength and guidance for his family. We will dearly miss our “Hero”.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Nov. 3rd at 3:00 p.m. in Holly Grove Baptist Church with burial in Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Friday evening at Gray Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m.
