Clarence R. Hunnicutt, died Sunday, November 12, 2006.
He was born in Wellford, SC on July 5, 1916. Clarence served his country in World War II; however, at the war’s end, he couldn’t wait to return to his loved and cherished wife Alice and his farm in Newberry County. He worked for the state of South Carolina, and he retired from Whitten Center in 1978. He labored on his farm in Kinards, South Carolina from which he never truly retired. Along with various crops he raised there, he nurtured and raised his family and numerous and countless friendships from that location. Never without a quick smile, a kind word, or a great story, he was a true inspiration to all he came in contact with and he will be missed.
Surviving him are his wife of 64 years, Alice Crapps Hunnicutt; his son, Alan R. Hunnicutt and wife Dianne; his daughter, June L. Spivey ; his grandchildren, Todd Hunnicutt and his wife Liz, Fred Spivey and his wife Beverly, Tina Spivey Foster and her husband Jody, and David O’Shields and his wife Terri; ten great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the staff of Palmetto Health and especially to Charlotte Jones, whose service personified “above and beyond” the call of duty.
Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, November 14th at 3:00 p.m. at Fairview Baptist Church with visitation from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. before the services. Burial will be in Newberry Memorial Gardens.
