Clayton F. Crowder, age 81, of 161 Old Airport Rd. died Monday, January 23, 2006 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Gray Court and was the son of the late Captain Nelson and Annie B. Douglas Crowder.
Mr. Crowder was retired from the Gilliland Plant, was a Baptist by faith and served in the U.S. Army in Okinawa during W.W. II.
He is survived by four sons, Clifford Crowder, Donnie Crowder and Eddie Crowder all of Laurens and Jerry Crowder of Port Orange, FL; two daughters, Mrs. Broadus (Jean) Gwinn and Mrs. Boyd (Janice) Hames both of Laurens; a sister, Margaret Hurley of Gray Court; 14 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife, Eva Mae Crowder.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. J.B. Abercrombie with interment in the Forest Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of his son, Clifford Crowder, 16 Crowder Rd, Laurens.
