Dateline – Taylors, SC
Curtis Henry Young, age 86, entered his eternal resting place on Saturday, January 22, 2022. He was the son of the late George I. Young and Lillie Whitmire Young of Lydia Mill.
He was predeceased by his wife JoAnn Young, his sister Kate Young Eaton, his brother James “Tiny” F. Young, and his grandson Anthony Wood.
He is survived by his daughter Becky Lambert (Joey) of Taylors, SC, his daughter Sue Wagner Cope of Weaverville, NC, his grandchildren, Alicha Barcena, Ronald Johnson, Chad Johnson, Jay Cope, Catherine Craig, Chasity Johnson, Brooke Roy, 19 Great-grandchildren, his brother David R. Young (Nina) of Laurens, SC, and his Sister-in-law Sandra Young (Tiny) of Simpsonville, SC.
He was a man of God who truly lived his faith in a way that lifted others; he was a lifelong member of Holly Grove Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher. He was an avid fisherman and a talented musician who loved to sing gospel music on the front porch of his house on Bramlett Church Road with family and friends.
His impact on those he loved and those he knew is a living legacy and a testament to the importance of faith, family, fatherhood, and grandfatherhood, for few possess the strength of character, fortitude, and capacity to help us become our best selves the way Curtis Young has. We are all the better for having known him and some so fortunate to have been loved by him.
Visitation to be held at Gray Funeral Home in Laurens, SC from 1:00-2:00 pm on Wednesday, January 26, 2022, followed by a graveside service at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 2:00 pm.
