Darrell Keith Stewart, Sr., age 73, of Clinton, passed away November 6, 2016, at his home.
He was born in Clinton, and was the son of the late Ralph Harold and Beulah Mae King Stewart, he was a graduate and football player for the Clinton High School Red Devils, he then attended and also played football for Gardner-Webb University and graduated with an Associates of Arts Degree in 1965. Mr. Stewart again furthered his education by obtaining a Bachelor’s of Science in Psychology from Presbyterian College in 1971. And finally completed his academic career by capping off with a Masters of Social Work from the University of South Carolina in 1975. He was a proud veteran of the Vietnam War. He served in the United States Air Force where he achieved the rank of Sgt, serving with the U2 Spy Plane Unit. He was immensely proud of and deeply loved his children and grandchildren.
Mr. Stewart is survived by his son, Darrell Keith Stewart, Jr. (Ryan) of Greer; his daughters, Jane Stewart Ellis (John) of Summerville, and Ross Young Stewart of West Columbia; his sister, Linda Stewart Whiteford (Ray) of Clinton; and seven grandchildren, Samuel M. Stewart, Stella R. Stewart, Peyton J. Ellis, D. Keith Stewart, III, Elizabeth R. Ellis, Claire S. Ellis, and H. Oliver Stewart.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, November 9th, at 5:00 P.M., at Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton.
The family will receive friends prior to the service from 4:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.
