Darrell J. Whitsel

Darrell James Whitsel, age 62, born in Clinton, SC and died Sunday at GHS from a four month illness. He attended First Baptist Church of Clinton. Mr. Whitsel was an internationally known platform artist and educator in cosmetology. He started his career as a National Styles Director for Confederated Department Stores, member of Hair America and a color design team member for the N.C.A. He opened Royal Academy of Hair Design in 1985 and educated several hundred Students. Mr. Whitsel was chairman of the education committee, styles director and teacher for continuing Ed Classes for the S.C.R.C.A. He won multiple competitions on the national level and continued his studies worldwide.
A memorial service will be conducted Wednesday, Aug. 27th at 5:00 p.m. in the First Baptist Church of Clinton.
