David Ryan Poag, age 73, of Whitmire, husband of Patty Earle Poag, passed away Tuesday, October 12, 2021, at Prisma Health - Laurens County Memorial Hospital.
He was born February 3, 1948 in Whitmire, SC and was a son of the late Ryan Poag and Nellie Grace Bostic Poag.
Mr. Poag was an Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War, a Mason of the Masonic Lodge of Joanna. He was retired from Whitten Center as Administrative OD having served for 28 years and again retiring from the Laurens County Hospital after 25 years of service. He was an avid golfer of the Whitmire Golf Course.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Kevin Emory (Larissa); his daughter, Melissa Smythe (Tom); his sister, Shelia Miller (Bob); a special niece, Dawn Waymire; his nine grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; numerous cousins; his special friends, Brandon and Omar; and his furry babies, Gracie and Rocky.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Poag was predeceased by his daughter, Veronica "Ronnie" Butler; and his son, Michael Hurston Poag.
A Celebration of Life will be conducted Saturday, November 20, 2021 at 1:30 PM a The Whitmire Golf Course.
