David H. Roberts, age 93, formerly of Wesley Commons in Greenwood died Friday, November 14, 2008 in the N.H.C. of Clinton.
He was a native of Laurens and was the son of the late Clayton S. and Barbara Blackstone Roberts.
Mr. Roberts retired as Vice President of Manufacturing at Clinton Mills and was a Clemson Alumnus and was a member of the Broad St. United Methodist Church. He was also a former President of the Southern Textile Association and the Kiwanis Club and was chairman of the District 56 School Board.
He is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Barbara and Russ Emerson of Clinton and Kay Dolan of Fort Mill, SC; three grandchildren, Dr. Gary and Dr. Mary Allyson Emerson of Florence, Lisa Emerson and John Machione of Saugerties, NY and Karen Emerson and Pete Brown of Spartanburg; eight grandchildren, Emerson and Harrison Hart, Mary Anna, Wyatt, Hale and Franklin Emerson and Ava and Lana Machione; three step great grandchildren, Janelle, Tyler and Bethany Brown.
He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn Roberts.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Pinelawn Mausoleum Chapel, 28808 Hwy. 76 E., Clinton, SC.
The family will receive friends immediately after the service.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Broad St. United Methodist Church, 310 N. Broad St., Clinton, SC 29325 or Hospice of Laurens County, P.O. Box 178, Clinton, SC 29325.
The family will be at the home of his daughter, Barbara Emerson, 385 Cambridge Drive, Clinton.
