David N. Bower

David N. Bower, age 85, of 215 Ball Drive died Wednesday, October 22, 2008 in the Laurens County Hospital.
He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio and was the son of the late George and Lillian Taylor Bower.
Mr. Bower was a retired General Manager of St. Joe Paper Company and a member of the First Presbyterian Church where he was an Elder and former Chairman of the Board of Deacons and a Stephen Minister. He also was a former President of the Laurens Y.M.C.A., the Laurens Rotary Club and the combined Laurens County Chamber of Commerce. Mr. Bower was a WWII veteran of the US Army Air Corp.
He is survived by his wife, Marianne Chambers Bower of the home; a son, Mark Bower and his wife, Elizabeth of Columbia; two daughters, Libby Bell and her husband, Philip of Greenwood and Sarah (Sally) Brown of Columbia; daughter-in-law, Jackie Bower Linder of Chapin; a sister, Dawn Nowak of Toledo, Ohio and nine grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a son, Craig Bower and a brother, Walter Bower.
A memorial service will be conducted Friday at 4:00 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church of Laurens. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in Hunter Hall.
Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Laurens Boy Scout Troop # 339 or First Presbyterian Church of Laurens or the Martha Franks Baptist Retirement Center.
