Dewey Durell Ficklin age 85 formerly of 106 Washington Street, widower of Earline Meadors Ficklin, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2010 in the Hospice House of Clinton.
He was born in Greenville, SC and was the youngest son of the late Mortimer Thomas Ficklin and Cassie Caraway Ficklin.
Mr. Ficklin was an Army Veteran of WWII where he served as a medic for the 3rd Convalescent and 56th Evacuation Hospitals.
He was retired from Clinton Mills after 38 years of service and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church . He was also a lifetime member of Campbell Masonic Lodge #44 and a former member of the City of Clinton Planning Commission.
He is survived by four sons, Mike, Tom, and Barry, all of Clinton, and Gary of Greenwood; two daughters, Kathy Holmgreen of Travelers Rest and Melissa French of Laurens; twelve grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, June 30th at 11:00 a.m. at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family will be at the home of his son, Barry Ficklin, 107 Teakwood Drive.
