Donald Eugene Prater

Donald Prater, age 62, of 611 Blalock Drive, passed away Monday, January 11, 2016 at his home.
He was born in Joanna and was a son of the late Edison and Willie Rice Prater.
Mr. Prater was a retired employee of Asten-Johnson with 41 years of service. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Joanna and enjoyed the outdoors, especially camping, hunting and fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Wanda Prater of the home; his son, Lee Pitts (Marc Legaspi) of Atlanta; his sister-in-law, Donna Mason (Mike) of Joanna; his brother, Bentley Prater (Vickie) of Joanna; his mother-in-law, Sybil Marshall, of the home; his nephew, Alan Mason of Kinards; his nieces, Ashley Hanks of Joanna, Ashley Prater of Joanna and Amanda Prater of Clinton; a special great-nephew and niece, Hunter and Kelley Hanks; and a number of great-nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be conducted Thursday, January 14th at 11 AM at First Baptist Church of Joanna by Rev. Arnold Heitt.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 PM at Gray Funeral Home of Clinton.
