Dorothy Mary Day

Dorothy Mary Day of Clinton passed away Friday, April 18, 2025 at NHC Healthcare of Clinton.

She was born in London, England on June 2, 1935, the only child of the late Dorothy Gladys (Press) and Arnold Day.

Dorothy came to the United States in 1958 and settled in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania area. She was employed in the Trust and Investment Departments of various Banks and Brokerage Houses until her retirement in 1995, when she moved to South Carolina.

After retiring, Dorothy had the time to devote to her lifelong wish to help companion animals by working with the Laurens County Humane Society to establish and run their rescue, foster and adoption program. When the program was defunded and discontinued, Dorothy took the unadoptable dogs into her care and supported and cared for them for the rest of their lives.

Dorothy leaves behind many special friends, Mary Jo Pierce, Jack, Jr. and Dena Iusti who welcomed her into their families; a special “adopted” grandson, Braden Iusti (Mary-Grace) and their child Owen Iusti; a special “adopted” granddaughter, Vicki Yoder (Isaac) and their children, Alanna Weaver (Josh), Bruce Yoder (Lucy), Brooke Yoder, Emma Yoder, Levi Yoder, LaDonna Yoder, MaKayla Yoder and Franklin Yoder.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy is predeceased by a special friend, Dr. Clovis Pierce.

A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, May 2, 2025 at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Clinton at 11:00 AM.
