Dorothy C. Sullivan of 54 Easy Rd., Laurens, SC, passed away peacefully Saturday morning, March 16, 2013.
Born Dorothy Lorraine Campbell on December 18, 1927, she was the daughter of the late Walter Daniel Campbell and Della Spencer Campbell of Laurens, SC. She was the oldest of six sisters and two brothers.
Mrs. Sullivan graduated from Laurens High School in 1944. In her early career, she worked textiles and at Laurens Shirt Plant. Later she became a beautician and owned and operated Dot’s Beauty Shop from 1958 – 2012. She was a member of Lisbon Presbyterian Church for more than 63 years, taught Sunday School, served as an elder, and was very active in the Women’s Circle. She was an avid USC Gamecock fan. She greatly enjoyed sewing, ceramics, and cooking. She was well-known throughout the community for her delicious cheese rings.
Mrs. Sullivan will be remembered for her generous and loving spirit, her love of church, her sense of humor, and her kindness and generosity. She was loved by all who knew her, and she will be sorely missed.
Mrs. Sullivan was predeceased by her husband of 47 years, Jared Dunklin Sullivan. Surviving are her daughters, Alice L. Sullivan of Laurens, SC, Augusta S. (Doug) Lawson of Laurens, SC, son Edward D. Sullivan (Jeanie) of Columbia, SC, grandchildren Blair Lawson of Laurens, SC, Brandi (Nathan) Snider of Gulfport , Mississippi, Sanders D. Sullivan and Campbell C. Sullivan of Columbia, SC; 6 sisters, 1 brother, and several nieces and nephews.
The family will be at the home of Augusta S. Lawson at 100 Blair Rd., Laurens, SC. After a private burial service, a Celebration of Life will be held at Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 1257 Roper Road, Mountville, SC 29370 at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, March 19, 2013. After the services, the family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to The Agape Foundation, 420 W. Farley Ave., Laurens, SC 29360 and/or Lisbon Presbyterian Church, 3468 Lisbon Rd., Mountville, SC 29370.
