Dorothy Elizabeth Williamson

Dorothy Elizabeth Mosteller Williamson, 94, widow of Frank Williamson, loving wife, mother, grandmother and prayer warrior died on July 11, 2017 in Columbia.
Born October 9, 1922, in Gastonia, NC, she was the daughter of the late Willie Alexander and Ruby Hilda Howe Mosteller. Following the death of her mother in 1931, she was adopted by the late James Wesley and Molly Price Roberts in Whitmire where she resided until 2011.
She was predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Beulah Mae and A. Ralsey Mott, adopted brother and sister-in-law, Vager and Olene Roberts, sister-in-law Mary Mosteller, and son-in-law Reverend Robert Lockhart. Surviving are her brother, John Mosteller of Orlando, FL, sister, Annie Ruth Waller (Jerry) of Villa Rica, GA, sister-in-law, Isabel Williamson of Apex, NC, daughter, Geraldine Lockhart of Columbia, son, COL (R) Mike Williamson (Cindy) of Blythewood, grandchildren, Stephanie Lockhart and Robbie Lockhart of Columbia, Rush Williamson of Gunnison, CO, Sarah Catherine Norris of Plano, TX, LAD Williamson of Dallas, TX, greatgrandchildren, Karsyn, Isabelle, and Madisyn Lockhart, Anna Caroline Norris and many, many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Dorothy attended schools in Gaston County NC and at the Garlington School in Laurens County. She and Frank were married in 1942, prior to his enlistment in the Army for World War II service. She was an active and faithful member of the Whitmire First Church of God where she served as Church Treasurer, Sunday School Teacher, Youth Leader, Music Director, and as an officer in the Women of the Church of God. She served her beloved Whitmire community as a Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, Light House Ministry volunteer, along with assisting many relatives and friends with their medical and travel needs. Miss Dot was also a frequent visitor to the walking track behind the library where she did her daily two mile walk.
She was employed at the Whitmire Mill (Aragon Baldwin & JP Stevens) for 22 years and retired from the Carlisle Finishing Plant and John Wolfe Cloth Shop after 28 years in 1988.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, July 13, 2017 at 12 Noon at the Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Whitmire. The family will receive friends from 11am-12pm at the Gray Funeral Home prior to her Celebration of Life service. Interment will follow the service at the Whitmire Cemetery.
