Dorothy Virginia Dillard Dubose

January 27, 1920 — September 2, 2013

Dateline-Clinton, SC

Dorothy Virginia Dillard DuBose passed away on September 2, 2013, on her wedding anniversary.
Dorothy, better known as Dot or “Miss Dot” was born on January 27, 1920, in Whitmire, SC to Thomas and Nora Dillard. She graduated from Whitmire High School and Presbyterian College where she met her future husband Stephen Richards DuBose. Miss Dot and a friend started their own kindergarten in Whitmire. She later taught in Newberry County public schools, in Laurens County and Thornwell.
Dot had a number of passions. She loved her church whether it was Whitmire Methodist or Presbyterian, where she taught Sunday School or First Presbyterian of Clinton where she was active in the Women of the Church. She was very humbled to be awarded the Honorary Lifetime Membership in the Presbyterian Women. She dearly loved Presbyterian College, her friends, all children, and of course her family. Anyone who knew Dot knew that getting together with family was very important to her but not far behind was her appreciation for birds and beautiful flowers.
Predeceasing Mrs. DuBose were her husband, her daughter, Martha Anne Green, brothers Ray and Joe Dillard, and sisters Clarice Dean, Maggie Lee Dillard, and Mary Dixon. Survivors include daughters Dottie DuBose-Blum (George) of Raleigh, Stephanie DuBose Williams (Daryl) of Columbia; grandsons Charles Green (Karen) of Fountain Inn, Richards Green (Hope) of Lexington, Stephen Williams (Melissa) of Athens, James Williams (Meredith) and Matthews Williams of Columbia; great-grandchildren Elizabeth and Emily Green of Fountain Inn and Lilly Anna, Kindall and Haskell Green of Lexington; sister Sylvia Tollison of Belton, and special caretaking family Warnetta James of Clinton and Johnnie Mae Coleman of Laurens.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, September 5 at 2:00 PM at First Presbyterian Church of Clinton with burial to follow at Pinelawn Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held at the home following the burial.
Memorials may be made to the Martha Anne DuBose Green Scholarship Fund at Presbyterian College or to the charity of one’s choice.
