Duckett McDonald “Mac” Adair, 71, of Clinton, died July 2, 2014 in his home.
Born in Laurens County in 1942, he was the son of the late Isaac M. Adair and Laverne M. Adair. He was a proud alumnus of both The Citadel and the University of South Carolina. He graduated The Citadel in 1963 with a degree in Political Science. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1963 to 1968. Upon his return from Korea, he earned an MBA from the University of South Carolina.
Mr. Adair was predeceased by his wife of 40 years, Melanie “Mimi” Martin Adair, his lifelong love. He man¬aged insurance and real estate throughout his career and was a small business owner. Mr. Adair was the Manager of Economic Development for the City of Greenville from 1978-1980. He was a Deacon at the First Presbyterian Church in Greenvillle and a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church of Clinton. He was, first and foremost, a devoted husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
Surviving are his son, James F. Adair, of Easley and his daughter, Melanie A. Johnson, of Greenwood. He is also survived by his broth¬er, James R. Adair. He was predeceased by one brother, Herbert Franklin Adair. He was also blessed with 4 grandchildren: Taylor Isaac Johnson, Sarah Ellen Johnson, Jase Andrew Johnson, and Stephen William Adair.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. on Mon¬day at Rosemont Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Jeri Perkins. Visitation will be held immediately following the service on Monday at the First Presbyterian Church of Clinton.
Honorary pallbearers will be the “Romeos” of his golf crowd.
