Earl A. Rambow age 89 of 801 Musgrove Street and husband of the late Rose Wardlaw Hunter Rambow, died Friday, Dec. 21st at the Presbyterian Home in Clinton.
He was born in Winnsboro, SC and was a son of the late William and Maude Braddock Rambow.
Mr. Rambow was a graduate of Richmond Academy of Augusta, GA and the University of Georgia.
During World War II, he served in the U.S. Army Corp flying B-24’s in the 7th Bomb Group in the China/Burma/India Theater. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross and Air Medal.
Following his military career he was employed with Haskins and Sells CPA Firm; United Merchants and Manufacturers; The Milliken Company and retired from Spartan Mills in 1983 as Vice-President and Chief Financial Officer.
Mr. Rambow had been an active member of the Lions Club in Clarkesville, GA; Spartanburg Civitan where he served as past President. He was an active volunteer with the Special Olympics, the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind, a volunteer scouter with the Palmetto Council serving as the Spartanburg District Chairman, and a volunteer in the elementary school reading program in the Clinton schools. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Spartanburg and an Elder. Mr. Rambow and his wife were avid square dancers with the See-Saw Squares in Spartanburg. He was an avid golfer at Three Pines Country Club in Woodruff. Above all he was a dedicated husband, devoted father and a loving grandfather.
Mr. Rambow is survived by three children, Pat Robertson and husband Allen of Sandy Springs, GA, William Earl Rambow and wife Mary, and Robert Rambow and wife Ann, all of Lilburn, GA; grandchildren, Bob Robertson and wife Kim, Sarah Dees and husband Zach, Bates Rambow, and Kathryn Rambow; and four great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, Dec. 23rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Gray Funeral Home Chapel in Clinton with burial in Pinelawn Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. before the service.
