Edgar Tommy Clayton, age 74, of 990 Trinity Church Road, died Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the Hospice House of Laurens County.
He was born in Person County, NC and was a son of the late Buck and Irma Bowes Clayton.
Mr. Clayton was retired from Laurens Electric, a member of the VFW, the Palmetto Masonic Lodge, and a US Army Vietnam veteran.
He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Sadie Williams Clayton of the home; four sons, Kenneth Clayton of Laurens, Steve Clayton (Sandy) of Laurens, Andy B. Young Clayton (Jessica) of Charlotte, NC, and Randy Clayton (Cecil Ann) of Durham, NC; five sisters, Corene Whitfield of Bahama, NC, Shirley Kenion, Sandy Martin, Patricia Newton and Joan Champion of Roxboro, NC; and five grandchildren, Kendra Putnam, Austin Clayton, Tyler Clayton, Bo Clayton and Austin Cornelius.
Mr. Clayton was predeceased by three brothers, Gary Clayton, Fred Clayton and Basil Clayton; and one sister, Madge Wrenn.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 31st at 2:00 p.m. in Gray Funeral Home Chapel of Laurens, with burial at Forest Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
